Sewing Basic Plain Seams

These samples are intended to be for your reference. When you write sewing instructions, you will include advice regarding seam allowances. These are the most common seam allowance amounts; 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" & 1". The home sewist may want to use a guide for these amounts. Most commercial home sewing patterns use 5/8" seam allowances. Understand that the seam allowance width is measured from the needle position. Purchase the Level 1 Sewing Patterns here: Level 1 Patterns
